it’s so devastating to watch this amount of oppression in a time not that long ago. to watch him deal with such a huge amount of pain while also pretending to be happy and healthy for his family must have been so hard. and him seeing himself in andrew must have hurt so much too, because there’s nothing he could do to spare him the pain he already went through. this movie is so beautifully sad.
