Genuinely brilliant, one of the best uses of soundtrack I’ve heard in a while, On the nature of daylight truly fit perfectly into the scene and created a beautiful bittersweet ending.
The second I took my seat I was invested in the characters, I can’t even begin to explain how that first half hour made me feel. Each character was seen enough to develop how you felt towards them and over the course of the film that continued. Jessie Buckley had an amazing performance and I was fully captivated by every second of screen time she had, her presence in every scene felt so seen and she really stood out, the phenomenal acting combined with the colour truly gave her a special performance and not only do I fully believe she will win that academy award, I hope to see her in more films too
One thing I would really like to mention is some of the framing and cinematography, especially during some of the more intimate moments, the incredibly low aperture looked brilliant in the close ups and really helped to start the scene with the character before building on the environment around them. I’d also love to praise those scenic shots for ages, it gave me a sense of peace and comfort for a moment, which felt almost essential after making me cry, well done to absolutely everyone who worked on this, I am truly amazed with every part of this film down to the costume and set design as well as the soundtrack which truly put the cherry on top.
