I mean, they were suckers“ This film was somehow even better than I remembered. In my opinion this is one of, if not the best first half of a film of all time, the narration from Ray Liotta through this film is incredible and his laugh in this film is so iconic. I think this film is a great demonstration of the genuine class Scorcese has when it comes to directing, because I think you could watch any scene in this film and appreciate the beauty in the shots. I think this is the funniest gangster film for sure, and one of my favourite scenes was Paulie introducing his family - it never fails to make me laugh. The you’re a “funny guy” scene is one of the best uses of tension in cinema history. I had recently been looking to find a fourth film worthy of top 4 quality and I think I’ve just found it.
