okay so here’s to the last piece of art I deeply fell in love with
this series is one of the most haunting, fascinating, raw, triggering, devastating, traumatising yet beautiful, powerful and poetic things I’ve ever seen
the dark psychology is just everything
I love how it depicts the impacts that trauma can have on someone’s personality
and especially how a dysfunctional, abusive and unstable relationship with your parent, your supposedly caregiver, can fuck you up.
these parents who shouldn’t be parents (at least not before they get treated if it’s even possible…) don’t raise children, they raise violence, blood, hatred, raw flesh and open wounds
some broken kids succumb like Marian
those who survive end up turning this anger towards themselves, like Camille
or towards others, like Amma
and both search for the attention and the affection they never had in everything : alcohol, drugs, hypersexuality, partying…
but the hole in them stays empty
having mommy issues especially with a narcissistic one, sh issues and dead sibling issues made it feel a lil bit too close to home for me ngl…
I felt this in my chest my stomach my lungs my bones my soul
It made me cry, scream in my pillow, bite myself, having obsessive thoughts abt it and not sleep at night
and for all of that and more it became one of my fav art work of all times
can’t wait to read the book

“A child weaned on poison considers harm for comfort.”
“Every time people said I was pretty, I thought of everything ugly swarming beneath my clothes.”
“When I'd been sad, I hurt myself. Amma hurt other people.”
*“My demons aren't remotely tackled, they're just mildly concussed.”
*
“Sometimes if you let people do things to you, you're really doing it to them.”
“It’s impossible to compete with the dead. I wished I could stop trying.”
“Sometimes my scars have a mind of their own.”
“I just think some women aren’t made to be mothers. And some women aren’t made to be daughters.”
“I never loved you.”
