Alien
Kat (my girlfriend) and I are starting our viewings of all 9 Alien films in preparation for the release of Alien: Romulus. Tonight we watched Alien (1979) and holy shit.
I haven't seen Alien since I was probably around 13. I don't remember much. Kat hasn't seen Alien. Absolutely one of my top 5 horror films. Maybe top 5 Sci-Fi films.
Still terrifying to this day, even 45 years later. Every slow tracking shot.. every second you think you're finally safe but you're not. The ending of Ripley in the Narcissus shuttle finally breathing soundly just to hit you with the xenomorph sleeping barely a foot away from her. Amazing. I knew it was going to happen, that's the main thing I remember outside of the chest burster and facehugger, and it still made my heart speed up.
Beautiful shots, amazing sets, god-tier monster. The build up to Ash being an android is amazing too. I completely forgot that Weyland-Yutani Corp replaced their science officer with Ash two days before they left the mining colony on the Nostromo. It was all a set up. Every detail was there for a reason.
Ugh I can go on and on about this film
4.9999/5 stars. 0.0001 star knocked off cause the chest burster running away was goofy and made me laugh out loud and have to pause the film.
