Platoon
The war is over for me now, but it will always be there, the rest of my days as I'm sure Elias will be, fighting with Barnes for what Rhah called possession of my soul.
I love how raw and no-holds-barred Platoon is. It’s not just about the action or violence, but the brutal reality of daily life in the war, showing how soul-crushing it really is. Willem Dafoe as Elias absolutely steals the show for me. He brings so much depth to Elias, making him the heart of the film, representing the morality in man, which stands in stark contrast to Barnes.
That helicopter scene where Elias gets left behind is honestly one of the most powerful and heartbreaking moments I’ve ever seen. Watching him run, knowing there’s no escape, felt like the death of hope itself. It really hit me like a punch to the gut.
