Loving Vincent

a visually stunning homage to Van Gogh. i was pushed to watch the film after finding out that it was the words first fully painted feature film; it is entirely made up of 65,000 painting, created by over 100 artists over the course of 6 years. the love and dedication to not only the film, but Van Gogh’s own artwork, radiates from every frame.  the only criticisms i will raise is that a large amount of the film is flashbacks, characters really will take any opportunity to tell a story, so if that’s a pet peeve of yours, the film might not be for you. additionally the plot is lack lustre at times, which isn’t a completely deal breaker if you care more for the visuals. if you can look past these though, i think it’s a worthwhile watch for anyone that cares for unique cinema.
