Atonement
When growing up as a kid-teen, I had a divorced uncle who was a very lonely guy. My mom (who just wanted to see him happy) knew him and me both loved movies and arranged for us to go see a film once a month together. My uncle saw everything that came out (movies were his number 1 passion) so when we went together it was a crap shoot on what we would see which would be whatever he hadn't seen lol. When I heard we were doing this, I was wholeheartedly unmoved. Being a 15 year old boy I thought this sounded wack as fuck. I was wrong. In the years 7 years me and my uncle watched movies together, him and I never once cried together until this film. This movie transformed what I thought about the world, what I love in cinema and who I was as a person. Not the greatest film of all time but what is cinema if not a medium to challenge your core being and transform you into someone else. That is worth 5 in my book. My uncle lost his son this year and his daughter got married. We weep at her wedding talking about lose, timing, love and this movie drove the conversation.
