Sharp Objects
Every single character in this show is deeply fleshed out, human and inhuman in their own way. The haunting combination of southern charm with brutality creates this imperfect, clinical atmosphere of the show. I dont wanna get too deep into analysis but i love small town tragedies and this is my favourite, generational or lineage corruption is probably my favourite thing about it, all the women in their family had something ‘wrong’ about them: Camilla’s cutting, Adora’s MBP and Amma’s murders. I think Amma is the most interesting character; she’s so overwhelmed with a variety of objectives. She wants to be Adora’s perfect daughter yet also prove she’s just as incongruous as Camille, and also leave town. She’s jealous of the other girls that Adora gives attention too, hence why she murders them, and that eventually gets projected onto Camille as it’s presumed she murdered Mae as well. Having said that, i think Camille will always have a special place in my heart, her relationship with Adora is one that sometimes hits too close to home and her relationship with herself and her addiction is sometimes too relatable to watch. I guess what im trying to say is that i love this. It’s definitely what i would say as the best tv show of the century and lives up to the same world lifting experience i felt when i read the book. Please watch.
