the cyclical ramifications of what it means to grow up in a home that is cracked in its foundation by familial trauma. and how we’re maybe not so different of those who came before us. such a blunt film. there have been many films surrounding themes like these, but not many cut as deep. and the thing with blunt knives is, they make for worse wounds. trier is truly a visionary, who knows how to translate such banal yet compelling and piercing themes and emotions. he just knows how to confront the viewer. a legend in the making. cant wait to see what he does next. even if this movie does not win tonight, it will be my winner.
