The Menu
"I’ve been fooled into trying to satisfy people who could never be satisfied."
The line says everything about this movie — and about the chef. I absolutely loved The Menu for how sharp, uncomfortable, and darkly funny it is, but also for how deeply sad it becomes beneath the surface.
What really stayed with me is how much empathy I felt for the chef. He’s terrifying, yes, but also completely burnt out, disillusioned, and crushed by people who consume without ever appreciating. His anger feels like the result of years of being drained by entitlement, expectations, and people who take without giving anything back.
It’s not just a thriller or a satire about food culture — it’s about burnout, art losing its meaning, and what happens when passion turns into resentment. Smart, cruel, and strangely emotional. I loved it.
