Parasite
A gateway drug into foreign cinema.
Absolutely in a class of its own, but I still hate to admit it’s not quite on the level of Memories of Murder. The fact Bong Joon Ho directed both instantly puts him in the best working directors conversation.
Parasite is that rare mix of sharp social commentary and pure entertainment that somehow becomes more impressive every time you go back to it. Plenty of films try to tackle similar ideas but very few manage to leave the kind of lasting impression this one does.
