Crash
Years ago I came across a statistic that apparently 40% of people in a study have filmed themselves losing their virginity. I can't remember how or in what circumstances I came across this statistic, but ever since seeing it I have never forgotten it. I had always thrown it around as fun little fact, however now after watching this film and thinking more critically it's a pretty unfortunate fact. What makes us think in such a voyeuristic way that our perverted minds want to see people in such an awkward or even 'special' moment for some. But this can be said for any form of porn, why does it stimulate not only our eyes but our bodies too. Sex is subjective it can entice us, it can horrify us, it can also question our preferences in our sexuality and kinks. Sex and film will always be symbiotic unfortunately, as the evolution of porn becomes more unsafe and threatening not only to our minds but to the body too. Cronenberg and Ballard bring forward a point of when will we be satisfied?
