Interstellar
There's many reasons why I absolutely consider Interstellar my favorite sci-fi film. While Chris Nolan has been wonderful as ever for bringing his oh so brilliant scientific mumbo jumbo vision on screen, but the touch of humanity the film has, has made it such a masterpiece.
I’m tired, so tired, of seeing love reduced to mere romantic gestures on screen. The heart-throbbing, kiss-in-the-rain, happily-ever-after kind of love that is spoon-fed to us until we forget that love is so much more than that. It is messy. It is imperfect. It is the quiet moments of holding someone's hand without the promise of forever, it is staying up late to talk about your fears, it is choosing someone’s well-being over your own. Platonic love, familial love, the kind of love that endures beyond the confines of romance, this is the love that builds foundations. It holds us up, even when we're falling apart.
Interstellar doesn’t just take us through space, it catapults us into the vast, uncharted territories of love that go far beyond romance. It shows us a love that is infinite, not tied to hearts and flowers, but to time, sacrifice, and the purest forms of human connection.
