A good and solid film, but it is fairly overstuffed. Even though I LOVE films without a structure and more of a amorphous type of film, I feel like this movie definitely would of benefited with more structure, as it turns into a movie with a whole bunch of subplots.

Am I tweaking or was this not very good? After a quick watch I found no redeeming qualities in the movie whatsoever. Poor and lack luster cgi (use of cgi in films automatically makes it not cinema but don’t get me started) and nothing in this film I can say I was impressed by or stood out to me.

I believe that this movie just shows one of the key reasons why American cinema is completely going (and been) downhill. Films nowadays are so scared to loose the audience’s attention, often falling past the main narrative and coming up with a random unlinked story. I can understand what the main plot and message of this film is, but it seems like this movie especially is so scared to loose the audiences attention that it’s just throwing things at you and more or less holding hands. Films need some time to breathe and let things settle but this film is something that just try’s to take the viewer hostage. From a film that is supposed to be about a search and try for greatness becomes just a random thriller that hardly has anything to do with ping pong. I really would like to enjoy this movie but I can’t get over the films overly trying to keep my attention.
