The Penguin
It really turns into something else in those last two episodes.
It doesn't feel like a comic-book spinoff but turns into a full character tragedy. Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone is terrifying. She is cunning, wounded, unstable, and genuinely psychotic all at once. It’s one of my favorite villain performances in recent memory.
And Colin Farrell is fantastic in this. It never feels like “Colin Farrell in makeup,” he completely disappears into Oz — the limp, the insecurity, the hunger and the ambition. That’s what makes Oz work: he isn’t just evil, he’s pathetic, manipulative and deceitful.
That’s also why the show lands so well — it’s not really about crime, it’s about desire and decay. Ambition turning into self-destruction. Every relationship in the show is built on manipulation, desperation, or betrayal, and by the end it feels less like a rise-to-power story and more like watching someone hollow themselves out to win.
And yeah, the Selina Kyle letter and the Bat-Signal mention were perfect touches — just enough to remind you that this is still Gotham without dragging the show out of its own identity.
