Inherent Vice
so visually and narratively sharp, my favorite joaquin performance by a mille, a healthy disdain towards cops, and an intriguing, inviting score. a disorienting, drugged out, spiraling masterpiece. i’m not familiar with the pynchon novel so it feels like i got dropped down in the middle of something with characters already textured and worn and it works, stunningly.
made in 2014, rooted in the 70s but incredibly beatific. renders me simultaneously grateful and resentful of my having quit weed
this movie could have gone on forever and i would have kept watching. oh boy i loved this
