Queer
as someone who has read and loved the beat generation for years and years i can’t adequately express how much this movie meant to me.
when i finished reading queer i had so much fear about the movie because the book felt unadaptable. but luca captures its spirit so so incredibly well and handles the wildly abrupt ending of the book with grace and care.
it is so evident how clearly he understands the book and its context in the broader history of the beat generation - the gasp i made when lee shoots the glass off allerton’s head, shooting him directly in the temple, wow.
it’s also visually stunning, every landscape is incredibly dream-esque and the hallucinatory elements of the work are so naturally integrated
this could not have turned out better and i am in awe of luca guadingo.
approps of nothing drew starkey is worlds prettiest man he had a lesbian (me) blushing
