Sentimental Value
the intro was perfect. romantic and perfect.
i think we have gotten too comfortable in letting directors get away with complaining about small insignificant parts of life that real people don’t have problems with. comparatively with jay kelly, the daughters were whiny and you just don’t care about their small idiotic reasons for holding contempt with their father. in sentimental value, it was real. the girls were not upset but rather we were shown how their issues with their father had actually impacted them. the audience is made to care. it’s okay to meet people where they are and accept them where they are, but to also acknowledge that actions can affect you.
i loved everything about this. it was artsy but digestible. i fell in love with each of them. incredible. movie of the year
