Hamnet
Hamnet is an incredibly heavy film, carried by an absolutely phenomenal performance of Jessie Buckley. The emotional range she brings, especially in quiet moments, is unreal. The birth scene is devastating, and the cinematography is beautiful in a way that almost hurts.
The film barely gives you any space to breathe. Grief sits in every scene and never really lets go.
The Orpheus and Eurydice story mentioned at the beginning comes full circle in the ending. Love doesn’t undo death, but it continues through art. Through the play, the child is remembered and carried forward.
