I don't really understand why everyone puts this in the "file under: watch once and never again" category. After reading the novel I appreciated the depth even more. Araki's version is just as harrowing as the book, and I enjoy that he stayed true to the source material. Not every movie is supposed to be fun. Some clunky acting choices and slightly cringe 90s slang but overall very good performances and a tasteful adaptation. As ever a stellar soundtrack. I'm really hoping his new film keeps the Araki charm that he's known for and he doesn't try too hard to win over a younger audience and lose what makes his filmmaking special.

A shameful first watch but easy five stars. Al Pacino is the GOAT.

Beautiful cinematography. I’m a sucker for an East Germany movie. Very nice.

Easy five stars and another devastating watch thank you Wong Kar-wai. Beautiful pacing.
