Before Sunrise
Such a hidden gem of a film. I usually wouldn’t even waste my time on a writer’s movie with basically no direction, but the conversations and the slow burn of the love you can feel forming between them is beautiful. I really related to Jesse and a lot of the thoughts he shared throughout the film, though there were definitely moments where he came off too self-centered. Céline’s reactions to it felt so natural, especially when she finally addressed it and you could see him instantly get defensive before slowly accepting what she was saying. Unfortunately the moment got interrupted, because I honestly wanted them to go even deeper into his ability to accept fault, or whether he truly even can. They balance with each other so well as you can see she has no judgement to his financial situation, or his clear imperfections he may have, which our generation clearly lacks.
Before Sunrise feels directionless in the best way possible. It’s less about where the story is going and more about how two people slowly unravel themselves in front of each other over the course of ONE night. This is the love I want.
