I’d say one of the beautifully filmed movies out there right now as of our time. Truly stunned at how ALL THIS was filmed by fairly new director. The script was very late 2000s and maybe exactly that’s why it felt very true. Script was just amazing. Haven’t seen many movies where teenagers do not sound like another Millennial tryna improvise. The cinematography. OMG. That alone deserves a whole in-depth review. The color grading and everything with it. JUST CHEFS KISS.
You might think. Why 4/5. As smn not so familiar with Asian American culture (especially from POV of a young boy) There were moments I couldn’t feel the scene through. But man. The whole mother/child thingy. Felt it in my bones.
Very glad to see such movies come back again. Definitely might watch again.
