Adolescence
Went in with huge expectations… turned out pretty surface level.
Acting was great, especially the Jamie lad, really bright future ahead fs. Technical aspects were really enticing and kept the pace of the show.
Terms like “toxic masculinity” “Andrew Tate” “manosphere” were just used multiple times but weren’t explored on where the sources are like specially reddit.
If you want to make a show that highlights violence against women and girls & the proliferation of teenage boys being groomed by misogynistic grifters online, you might want to include how this actually happens, instead of simply making extremely vague allusions to it.
The 3rd episode painted Katie as a bully and Jamie as someone who’s desperate for opposite sex approval, angry and bitter for not getting so.. which is quite normal for the male gender at that age, there are consequences of bullying but where do you draw the line was the point it forced the audience to ponder, very unsubtly though. But what about the other side of the story? It literally said that the victim front gets ignored and went on to do the same.
