BLUE EYE SAMURAI
Storybook style narration and peak animation. Lures you in and makes you stay interested. The only compliant I have is I went in expecting things a certain way, like it takes place in Edo-period Japan (17th century) but deliberately adopts a more modern, gritty, westernized and irreverent tone compared to traditional samurai films. The characters, including Mizu, often speak and act in ways that feel anachronistic, cussing, displaying less formal respect, and challenging authority in ways that don't align with the strict bushido code or hierarchical etiquette which is the trademark and most fascinating aspect of the Japan history & culture.
