HerEverett9.9· December 27, 2024FollowJust wow. This movie just sucker punches you in the gut. You get introduced to the main character Theodore and he seems like kinda a weird dude. Little out of the ordinary but everyone knows someone like him. Then he meets this ai bot who is masterfully voice acted by Scarlett Johansson. They start talking and dating and it’s kinda weird. But you see them open up and grow to love and it is a try relationship, even thought you know it’s not really someone there. The the ending where teddy finds she’s been talking to tons of other people and he’s crushed. And Joaquin phoenix just kills this role. It crushes you. And this is more relevant now than ever with all these ai chatbots. I brings up such a good question. Is a caring relationship between ai and a person ok? Because either answer is right and it really makes you think. Also all the warm colors in the movie blow you away. Bondi beach, the middle of summer in Australia and the coldest of winter in freezing Wisconsin. I sit with my towel spread out and look out the waves. Out of instinct I put a AirPod in. I look for the perfect song to play and the gem “song on the beach” from this movie starts playing. A beautiful piano tune written from the ai to teddy.
