shout out to whoever donated this dvd to the Oakleaf goodwill because otherwise i might not have watched it. i think that this movie succeeds where other films like “happiness” fail in blending our absurd reactions to turmoil and the heartbreaking nature of being human. there is no right answer to pain, there are no winners, and choosing sides only allows us to see the soft underbelly of failure. joan and bernard failed each other, they continue to fail their children, and the boys must surrender the value of choice at the behest of either (failing or succeeding) parental figure. it’s sad in its own way, but also enlightening in the shadows of a former life that never really existed. also i don’t think that jesse eisenberg has ever looked a specific age he just kind of drifts between 19-34.

she should’ve done carpentry instead of whatever the hell that was

i could see the lower budget more so in the beginning but was pleasantly surprised by the end at their use of such a small space to create an engaging story ALSO it’s really funny that he’s credited as markaplier on this official movie

i don’t like the direction they went with lolita at the end making her almost a knowing participant that was odd
