Will forget this movie exists in two days (and that’s being generous)

Yeah no I stand by my initial rating this shit slaps

Gimme a funky little weird guy and I’m locked the fuck in — Was the ending unnecessary? Yeah. Does it make me happy that Rocky and Grace are gonna be together forever? Yeah immensely for sure mhm. Hats off to Ryan for his performance he absolutely killed that and hats off to the crew for making that whole spaceship that was sick as fuck. I dislike praising Amazon in any way but I mean gotta give credit where credit is due.

Marianne if you’re gonna choose to ride Johan after all that at least do me a favor and stab him in the heart before he finishes. — This movie really had me all the way up until he randomly assaulted his wife and then never talked about it ever. I get this was made in a different time and a different place in the world with a different influencing culture that I’ll never get to personally experience but no matter the reasoning for that scene I can’t help knowing that that just took me completely out of it. Which is unfortunate, I admit, as I quite enjoyed the extensive dialogue scenes and speeches delivered thus far. I especially really like the argument and breakdown the couple was having right before he decided to start wailing on her. I can’t help it but it just turned the movie into something totally different for me. So much so that I was almost completely uninterested and detached with the next and final scene of their “marriage”. Speaking of the scenes, I did love how this movie was structured. Depicting literal “scenes” from a marriage was an excellent way to watch this couple unfold and understand them independently and as well as as a unit. I do wonder tho what’s up with almost any movie having the word “marriage”, with that as its main theme, being about absolutely terrible and heartbreaking relationships (not talking about rom coms)?? I understand these film makers are trying to bring a realistic and unfiltered view into the complexities of the most intimate “lifetime” bond, but every married couple can’t secretly hate each other I just have to disagree. Call me a romantic if you must but there has to be more to long term partnership then just agreeing to stay today for the sake of being in too deep all the while secretly harboring years and years of resentment and loathing for yourself and said partner. I appreciate some cynicism but I refuse to believe a marriage story, before midnight, and scenes from a marriage are all that I have to look forward to.
