Sinners
Gimme a break
LIKE BFFR, this movie was everything, we know Ryan Coogler can direct good movies,no surprises, and then we have Ludwig who literally made one of the most BEAUTIFUL soundtracks ever to exist. The man is singlehandedly competing with the man himself Hans Zimmer. The movie was just glorious, like, getting a dip in black culture, back into african roots, rhythms, dances, also props to hoodoo, we LOVE THAT. We love that they got the work done, and that’s what good research does.Giving us a gorgeous portrayal of slavery, now that was it, showing us the life of African Americans, also props to costume design and showing black dandyism with the SmokeStack twins, the daily attire of slaves while in labor and the gowns used in 1930s fashion, EVERYTHING ON POINT.
I’d like to also give a huge round of applause to the incredible idea of bringing up the Irish, acknowledging British oppression on the Irish (which is a topic that should be more known and I love them for taking it out to the light), “No blacks,No Irish,No Indigenous”, which were the basic pillars of British conquest. Making Remmick Irish was a call that history constantly repeats itself and a horrible regime never changes its ways, the oppression of Irish culture and putting “Rocky Road to Dublin” on the film was more than I could ever ask for, truly showed us how many cultures had been oppressed by the white man. Also, kinda wished they gave Remmick an Irish accent instead of an American one, would’ve made more sense.
Apart from the cinematic beauty that this was, let’s take a moment for the legend,Michael B. Jordan, the man is delicious, and we can’t deny that, but also the depth of both of his characters just made perfect sense. Sammy’s voice made me feel deeply the magic they spoke about, great way of making emotions trespass the screen, loved Annie and how they portrayed Hoodoo and African rituals in the best way with her. I can’t describe how beautiful this move was to me,truly a cinematic experience and would’ve loved to watch it in cinemas, congrats to everyone who did,you truly must’ve had an otherworldly experience.
In conclusion, this was A MASTERPIECE, definitely deserves the Oscar and is one of the best films of the decade.Thank you Ryan Coogler
