Psycho

“Mother! Oh god, mother! Blood! Blood!”*
Unbelievably amazing. One thing I’ll note on is the tension shown in the film. The tension between Norman and everyone he came in contact with was so intense that you could cut it with a knife. The scenes felt so intimate and it captured so mental illness amazingly. I never believed the hype around this movie until I saw Anthony Perkins whole heartedly embrace his role as Norman.
Psycho crafted slashers with its bare hands, and has been the backbone of the genre ever since it emerged. This is the 2nd best slasher I’ve ever watched but will not stop me from holding them to a low standard, due to the peak of this genre in the 70’s-80s, which causes almost every new slasher to be a overthought mockery of what once was.
Overall, this movie (and rear window) have peaked my interest into Hitchcocks direction style and I look forward to watching many more movies from him in my near future.
