Nowhere
Do you know that feeling when you're convinced the right person came exactly when you asked for it, then when you get so near to finally having the love you've always wanted they kind of explode and turn into a giant cockroach just to escape out of the window? Yeah, well so do I, but without that movie I would've never found those words. So that's a win, I guess...
I'm so goodly surprised by how great this was. The soundtrack? Absolutely gorgeous, come on! Lush, Radiohead, Mojave3/slowdive, hole and more. The visuals are so haunting and unique. Then, the story is a weird and uncomfortable kind of weird where the whole movie you just try figuring out what is going on. The ending really tied it together tho.. well as much as it could've. I just love the way Gregg Araki uses metaphors and strangeness to his advantage.
So, yeah this 1 hour and 20 minutes of movie were really impactful to me. Dark's monologue into his camera meant a whole lot to me.
"Dear diary, what a day. I swear I've never been so depressed, miserable, and lonely in my entire life. It's like I know there's got to be somebody out there somewhere... just one person in this huge, horrible, unhappy universe who can hold me in their arms and tell me everything is going to be okay. And how long do I have to wait before that person shows up. I feel like I'm sinking deeper and deeper into quicksand... watching everyone around me die a slow, agonizing, death. It's like we all know way down in our souls that our generation is going to witness the end of everything. You can see it in our eyes. It's in mine, look. I'm doomed. I'm only 18 years-old and I'm totally doomed."
This absolutely horrifying feeling where you see all the terrors and pain in the world and you're just there as some spectator and everything is so miserable.
