"To a love unbound by gender, standing resolute against the tides of time." GMMTV could NEVER

mhm. I have a lot of mixed thoughts about Flat Girls. I don’t understand why I only see 1 in 100 people speaking up about Tong, it seems to be grooming no matter that Ann is above 17. She's still a student who is very vulnerable to a matured, working POLICE MAN. He is taking advantage of a very young woman who is dealing with problems she shouldn't have been worrying about in the first place. People of her age and state can be easily manipulated by adults. Also, Tong himself only took care of these young girls due to his poor performance as a father. He did not want THEM to be happy. He wanted to feel better about himself and HIS difficult family situation. He knew he fucked up. Nevertheless the movie is a nice, queer coming of age representation if we ignore Tong and his fucked up mind. Sure, they all have their problems and I am not a big fan of shoving everyone into categories like “black and white” characters because humans itself aren’t entirely bad or 100% good but in this case, Tong is a grown man he shouldn’t have interfered and formed a strong bond with them in the first place.
