36
as someone who has always been fascinated by the connection between photography and memory, i fell in love with this film.
i cannot stop beaming over the brilliance of the idea behind it and how perfectly it was executed. to craft a film under the constraint of a film roll's 36 shots is such a unique creative undertaking and it perfectly fits under the film's themes of digital vs analog and memory tied to places and objects.
i just love how bold and patient this film is, how it feels like a collection of photographs brought to life, how it forces us to recognize the beauty in the mundane, as well as confront the imperfection of our memories.
crazy to think that this is the first thai film i recall ever watching. i developed a huge respect and fascination for thai art during my time in thailand, and this film just further proves how much creativity is coming out of that place.
this film definitely isn't for everyone, but i was surprised by how quickly it captivated me. this will stick with me for a long time (and that ending AHHH).
