Full Metal Jacket

My first Stanley Kubrick movie, and I enjoyed it. This movie really gets into how war can bring out the evil in people, but also, for some people, how it can bring out leadership. There were truly some evil soldiers on the US side, and I think he represented that well. It kinda felt like two different movies with the first part being the training and the second being the actual fighting, because of how little amount of character crossover between the two. I do have to say that the beginning half of the movie, during the training, is nearly perfect cinema. Of course, every movie about the Vietnam War has amazing music, it would be a crime not to add bangers into a movie about the Vietnam War. 1987 || Vietnam War
