Arrival
i always love the trope of language is a weapon taken literally. This is another great take of taking language as a weapon, and i might be 100% biased but this movie proves and beats the battle and who is more important, science or language.
honestly i did not expect to like this movie in the first half, but throughout the first half when it showed her daughter dying, i was so confused on why she didn't age NOW and she looks so similir to her 14-15 years ago, accompanying her child.
In the beginning of the movies, i don't really like the angles of the camera, but then going torwards the end, i think it just shows how incomplete Louise's visions have been.
I also like that the film uses an analogy of the alien's language and that it gives us 'powers to see the future', to show how close language is to form our culture, and that by understanding another language you became 'another person'.
this is my movie version of the Babel novel by R. F Kuang <3
also PS: why does China always have to be the villain bruh
#favorite of all time#i had a blast#language is a weapon taken seriously
