Train Dreams
Wow. I definitely did not expect this movie to hit me that hard. For sure one of the most emotional watches for me this year.
The cinematography of this movie is incredible. The setting is amazing, the colors just work seamlessly. I was so amazed by the l mellow scenes in front of the setting sun, which were often accompanied by slow piano passages. Those bits made me tear up, even only a couple minutes into the movie.
I enjoyed how the story was narrated. I think the story speaks mostly for itself, not much I can add to that.
“It feels like the sadness will just eat me alive, but sometimes it just feels like it happened to somebody else. But no, i wasn’t here, not when I should have been and when they needed me the most.”
Fortunately, I have not suffered from any tragic losses in my life yet, yet I can only imagine the pain behind that statement. I want to say I understand, but saying it just feels unfair to me. There are so many people out there, that have experienced that, are experiencing it, or will in an unforeseeable amount of time. How do you keep going after that? What hope is there to have?
Additionally, the score was super good. It just had this perfect amount of softness, somberness and hope to it.
Trains Dreams is a movie I will return to in the future. Not as a comfort movie, but as a movie to experienced.
