The ethos around science and the science itself were cool, but the dialogue, cinematography, and narrative beats were really cheap. Idk how much of that is because it’s a kids movie, but it really feels like it underperforms with each individual premise. Also, it feels like a white savior movie, as the companion character does jack and shit the entire movie. They also do the robot voice shtick from 2001, Interstellar, and etc..  Tldr: The movie takes the cool scientific framing and challenges to be boring, safe, and generic the whole time. Not awful, but disappointing

It’s a bummer the movie has insane misogynistic bits  and tropes that wilt its argument about the patriarchy being negative for men

Camera movement and visuals are insane. Marry your dp. First revenge movie with a good third act. Northman and Furiosa had shit 3rd acts. Visuals were so juicy. I loved the wide shots and the way they rotated the camera around the people. Could watch sequences from this movie all day. Plot’s simple, but the backdrop adds a lot of depth and grounding. Visuals are so good I want to give it a 5, but the plot needs a little extra substance to earn that rating.
