Brokeback Mountain
"sometimes I miss you so much I can hardly stand it"
i really dont get why people say they dont enjoy movies because of their sexuality. i mean yeah watching a gay movie as a straight guy can be not the most fun experience and you can feel distant but just say you didnt like it because you felt distant not because you arent gay😭
the romance in this one didnt feel distant but rather genuine & it rlly got me caring about their relationship, especially considering the time the movie plays in.
Brokeback mountain wasnt trying to be lecturing or educating, like some queer movies do (sadly) (i feel like), the only thing it wanted to do is portray a love story between two people, ”coincidentally“ between two men and, as mentioned, it did that really well!!
every emotion made sense and was portrayed in such a pure, honest way that it just got me feeling empty at the end?
the gorgeous gorgeous cinematography and lack of dialogue definitely helped with that!! it just made the bad moments so much more uncomfortable and the good moments so much more tender. This movie matters and it knows that!
this movie didn’t feel like a “gay romance,” it just felt like two people who didn’t get the chance they deserved. and that’s what hurts the most.
