The Notebook
Was this meant to make me cry? Because it didn't. I'm so disinterested by straight romances that this was just okay, made worse by how dated the story was.
Back when it was acceptable to threaten a woman that you were going to kill yourself if she didn't go out on a date with you, even if you're Ryan Gosling, that doesn't make up for it. Also, cheating? Seriously?
It's cute and all, but I feel angry seeing how happy Allie can act with Noah when she's cheating on her perfectly nice and well fiancé. I don't care if they're not married yet. That man did nothing wrong, and she went out and cheated on him. Why torture Noah by going back to him when you're engaged.
Dementia can't be cured, just by the way. I sound like a Debby Downer, but that's just not how it works, outside of the magical fantasy of movies, and I don't really like how they make it seem like it's possible. Also, I noticed they made most of the nursing stuff black people with felt kinda weird when black people have been stereotyped in media as caregivers or "auntie" roles for white people. I don't know if I'm reaching with that one since I'm white but I noticed it and it made me feel uncomfortable.
Anyway, all that to say, Noah should have been with me, and Allie should have been with her husband. Also, the sex scenes made me hella uncomfortable, so that's that. This movie was fucking insufferable.
