High and Low

This movie was unbelievably good Never seen such a deft hand with composition. So much chaos in the frame and presented so clear and concisely. characters turn away from the frame but it all seems so grounded, 15, sometimes 40 characters in one frame all blocked in the most meticulous way but it remains organic—just incredible. Let alone the performances from Mifune and Sada.  Interested to watch highest to lowest for sure. Also thinking about how interesting it was to see The Samurai (Melville) and then this, both taking on the procedural from different angles (the perpetrator/cops vs the victim/cops). Acab except for the cops in this movie genuinely I fw them
