Mickey 17
“sauce is the true litmus test of civilization” - toni collette
a+ performance from robert pattinson.
mark ruffalo was fantastic in his role as a fully corrupt dictator in what is so obviously a trump impression but that made it extra hilarious. the whole movie felt like a fun adventure within which hid super super small references to it being a representation of a fight against nazism.
i think the most interesting part of it all is the movies self awareness of the ethical debates it’s contents creates, the just dealing of persecuting two parties of the same soul split between bodies. i don’t have any input just thought i’d point it out.
this is the caliber a proper enders game movie (or any based-off-book space movie) should reach, not whatever asa butterfield and harrison ford made. that being said i’ve never read the mickey book, but the movie was great regardless, unlike the aforementioned enders game that took too many liberties from the book for that mid of a movie.
8.1/10
rather splendid
