Saving Face

This was a really beautiful film, I really loved it. Theres not many sapphic romcoms and when they do make sapphic films it’s always either a period piece of forbidden love and longing stares with a sad ending or a bury your gays trope that are impactful and standout which yeah it’s important we have them but it’s also really important we get to have films like this one that’s a lesbian romcom being fun, cheesy and happy which straight people get abundance of that there’s too many to count yet we have a handful. I loved how it was love story for wil and Vivian but also for wil and her mam that part really got me. I also love that the characters are Chinese and we not only get to see a part of their culture through the film but it also makes it a lesbian poc romcom which there’s a major shortage of within film cause of hollywoods major over-saturation of white straight love story’s. I love Alice Wu for creating this and also The Half of It and if I have to wait another 10 years for another lesbian film from her I will do exactly that.
