“The only reason I’ve consented to doing this is because I wish to clear my name. Not because I care about what people think, but enough is enough. And if it helps some people in the end, that’s fine, too. Some people call me a freak. I hate that word, because I don’t believe in labels. I consider myself to be normal, whatever normal is. But… what are you gonna do, huh? That was the deal.” And if I said opening and closing the entire movie with this monologue is fucking genius, then what? My body had a reaction to the first few words at the very end of the movie when I realized what was happening. I love it when we come full circle. Genius. Her outfits are UGHHH SO GOOD!!! That is one of the first few things that caught my eye. When I saw “songs by Prince,” I am telling you, I screamed. So yes, I do think the music is fire. The randomly placed scenes of her acting… oh my gosh I love cinema. I LOVE THAT THEY DIDNT MAKE HER DOUBLE DOWN ON HER REFUSAL TO SHOW HER BODY. That was so refreshing to see. Yes, tell them to fuck off in the beginning and in the end. The scene where she’s kissing Isaiah Washington’s character (apparently named “shoplifter”) while the telephones are falling all around them. My goodness, I love it.

31 On 31: 70s & 80s Slashers Forgot to log this one, so here I am! And I also forgot to write my little notes throughout the movie, so bare with me as I try to remember how I felt and what I liked/didn’t like. The homophobia is lowkey funny… DONT FLAME ME!! I’m allowed to say that. Just look at this. “Do you like girls?”“God, you’re a pig!”“You’re sick.” LMFAOOOOO I’m sorry but is that not hilarious? But to answer the detective’s question, uhhh quite the opposite actually! Cheryl is very much in love with her nephew… well, son! How cute. (sarcasm btw) I thought they were poor at first because Billy and Cheryl were sleeping in the same bed, but oh no it’s much worse than that. She does that shit on purpose. Red flag from the start. THIS WAS PRETTY FUN TBH! I enjoyed it. I was engaged throughout the entire movie and I was having fun. That’s pretty much one of the only things that matters to me when it comes to movies. Was I interested and did I enjoy it? Very last thing I’d like to touch on: The 80s and their fuck ass shorts. They take the word “shorts” VERY SERIOUSLY.

I could talk hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and days and days and months and months and years and years and years about this movie, but I think I’ll choose to just shut up! Anyway, I had to give this one a rewatch because gosh I love May so much. Adam could NEVER match her freak, but Polly was the closest one to match her freak 💔 I support all of May’s actions. Soundtrack fucking eats. Lucky McKee is always going to deliver lesbians. I think May is completely justified! Also, to reveal a little about my life, I mostly only rewatched this because I’m in a ENG 107 class and I have to make up my own story. I was very inspired by May, so I decided if I’m going to write a character similar to her, I might as well just rewatch it. I really like the idea I came up with and I will probably be revisiting this movie some more! Goodbye and everyone be more like May Dove Canady 🤍

31 On 31: 70s & 80s Slashers Okay, let me start off with saying the first 34-ish minutes were really… hmmm what’s the right word? Boring! After Kate died, unfortunately that is when it started getting interested. So, after Kate died, I was 100% pulled in. I was watching every second, hanging on to every word, processing everything they were giving me. Love Peter. He’s adorable and a smart guy, what’s not to love? But the star of this movie is obviously Liz. MY GOODNESS, Liz. I don’t think I have the words to form a proper sentence about her, but she really blew me away. Might be one of my fav characters of this challenge so far! (killer stronger than me LMFAOOO 😭 oh i need to leave…) Anyway, I caught on before the big reveal! Figured it out 🙂↕️ which is a first for me. Last thing I wanna say. This has a very 80s understanding of what it means to be a trans person, especially to be a transwomen. That part, and the fact that they purposefully showcased black men as violent (the stereotypes…), really docked off a few points. Yes, yes, it’s an 80s movie, but still. “Just a sweet transvestite… from transssssssexual… transylllvaniaaaa… haughhauhhaaa” is what I kept singing to myself the moment trans people came up on the TV lol. Rocky Horror is always in my mind.
