El Sur

I find it hard to think that this masterpiece from Victor Eriche struggled through production due to the fact that this is one of the best movies of it's categories as the performances from Sonsoles Arugeren which perfectly captures the abandonment as a child and some of the stills with her in the shot were simply incredible and very mature helping to capture this isolation. This is Backed up by the mystery captured by Omero Antonutti's character which keeps you in the dark at what type of character he is through his incredibly sad and muted performance and use of light to show this isolation. this then creates a powerful ending that shocks and reveals the inner anguish of Augustin (Omar Antonutti's character) and helps to create a deeply sad and isolated piece of work that stands on it's own in all it's glory. this is a absolute masterpiece of capturing the isolation and effects of loneliness and a world class film that thoroughly deserves the 5 star rating.
