Loki
After loving Wandavision and being very disappointed in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki is a step back in the right direction. This show was clever, absurd, and features another outstanding performance by Tom Hiddleston. Not many actors can perfectly wield a character that audiences either love or hate based on each minute of runtime.
Owen Wilson is one of the more inherently likeable actors in the MCU now, and Mobius is one of my favorite secondary characters in the whole universe.
Unlike Falcon and the Winter Soldier and even Wandavision in some regards, this show always felt important. It didn't feel like some B-level side project from Marvel. The implications of this show are massive and that gives the Marvel TV show frenzy more stakes in the future.
Unfortunately, it has some noticeable flaws. Episode 3 is a snoozefest. The prior episode sets up so many questions, and episode 3 is all filler which causes the show pacing to lose so much steam. The Loki/Sylvie bond works for me in a platonic sense, but Marvel just can't resist the urge to make everything romantic, no matter how forced or weird it might be. And some of the major dialogue needed for context in this show is pretty surface level. It felt like the writers didn't have enough knowledge of their own universe to explain some of the backstory in a sufficient way. So they gave us shallow one liners and expect the viewer to connect the dots on their own. I hate when movies and shows do that, especially when the subject matter is a complex idea such as time.
Despite the setbacks, I was never bored for 5/6 episodes, the character work is great, and it leaves me still wanting more out of this universe. I still think I'd give Wandavision the slight edge, but Loki was still another solid outing from the MCU.
