Frances Ha
“I’m so embarrassed. I’m not a real person yet.”
The beginning of this film is what I often daydream my future to look like, obviously some minor differences but who doesn’t dream of living with their best friend. Smoking cigarettes by the window and being overly-attached are my two favorite hobbies.
I miss my best friend, it’s unfortunate how time and other people can change the bond you thought you had with someone. psssh so unfair how things change so violently, especially when you’re a strange person who can hardly handle it. I for one cannot handle feeling like someone I’ve loved has turned into a stranger.
I see myself in Frances sort-of, but maybe a teenage version, so not so bad but even more dramatic. I too am undateable, strange, talkative with dependability issues, and full of dreams that are doomed to fail.
Life is messy and things don’t often go the way you dream, but things will get better and go on, they always do. It’s a damnedest thing, both depressing and exciting.
