Dune: Part Two

I absolutely adored the first part so much that it was my top film of 2021, and Part Two is even better! There’s not much I can add that everyone else has not already said tbh! The cinematography and production design is visually stunning and incredibly gripping. The costuming is absolutely exquisite. The score and sound design are both superb. The pacing of this I found to be something that builds up until it really comes together, rather than just a standard three-part structure. All of this combined made for an entrancing sensory experience — especially in 1570.  The ensemble cast was absolutely stellar, with the standouts for me being Rebecca Ferguson, Austin Butler and Javier Bardem.  Villeneuve’s Dune series so far is, in my opinion, monumental for modern sci-fi filmmaking — and I agree with Nolan that this is his Empire Strikes Back.
