Malcolm X
"If the so-called Negro in America, was truly an American citizen, we wouldn't have a racial problem. If the Emancipation Proclamation was authentic, we wouldn't have a race problem. If the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the Constitution were authentic, we wouldn't have a race problem. If the Supreme Court desegregation decision were authentic, we would not have a race problem. But you have to see that all of this is hypocrisy! " Malcolm X in his speech Message to the Grass Roots, 1963
How come I was taught about Martin Luther King, but never about this man? I seriously need a book with every single word he said, written down. One thing that I thought was weird, is how in the movie none of the newspapers were criticizing Malcolm for his Islamic statements (like "Islam is the one religion that erases from its society the race problem")
, or defining him a "terrorist" or "extremist" for naming Allah in a lot of his speeches. Then, I remembered all this was before 2001. Before people started viewing Islam as the extremist religion, and Muslim people as a threat. Can you imagine a black man saying such things nowadays?
I really recommend to watch this movie/documentary, Malcolm's life was really interesting.
