The Queen's Gambit

I kept waiting for the men in Beth’s life to take advantage of her/abuse her/violate her... and it never happened. Sure there’s some casual rampant misogyny in the 1960s chess world, but no rape or other violence depicted on screen. What a concept, a complicated female character who doesn’t have to be used and abused by the men in her life to be an interesting protagonist! You really love to see it.
