Shōgun
i gave in to the relentless hulu ads for this miniseries and it was 100% worth it. big fan of the last kingdom on netflix and i felt like this scratched that same itch for historical fiction.
hard to get into @ first bc its such a lock in show and with so many languages and cultures at play but we learn and grow alongside the anjin.
actresses that played mariko and fuji deserve awards bc half the time they had 0 dialogue but still said so much with their facial expressions.
saw that ending coming but that didnt make it any easier to process.
loved the contrast between eastern and western religion and how anjin finally sees the bigger picture of human nature/purpose.
